The Yee House was designed for a family of five, remodeled from the existing design of a linked house. For such remodeling project, constraints arise from the generic terrace design - natural lighting, ventilation, sound leakage, noise leakage, etc.  The objective of handling this project then was to design spaces give the house a modern look while respecting its neighbours and context.

Mrs Yee's hobby of growing plants and produce has encouraged the addition of planting spaces within the confined spaces of the home. With the neighbouring lots' frontages taken into consideration, much of the building fabric is retained, only upgraded with material modifications for modernity. Hence, the new distinct "planting cage" serves as a dominant element at the house's facade, while the roof profile is maintained with an upgrade from concrete to clay for easier maintenance in the long run. Other remodeled structures include the car porch, a mezzanine and the staircase.
