Plaza Low Yat has been in operation as the largest IT mall in Malaysia since its opening in late 1990s. Till this very day, the mall is one of the well-known hotspots for locals and visitors, often swarming in this 7-storey building.

The exercise aims to open up the current retail as part of the walkway city concept. Bringing the retail from inside to outside and blurring the boudary between the interior and exterior. In order to achieve the above, we have created a series of retail glass box protruding out of the building. Another important feature of low yat mall is the multiple entrances which allow the visitors to shop seamlessly between inside and outside of the malls. The various entrances are being enhanced with ocre colour.

In terms of facade treatment, we toy with the idea of pixel. In this case, pixelated laser cut galvanised steel perforated panels are introduced as the main skin from UG to 4th floor. LED panels are strategically placed at three busy corners where the visitors are attracted and drawn to the mall even from a distance.
